County started the season by hitting 4 goals away from home at Plains Farm but still went down 5-4 in an exciting encounter in very breezy conditions.
The first 9 minutes of the season saw County three goals behind after a poor start defensively, leaving four players unmarked for the first goal, passing the ball out to an oncoming striker for the second, and giving a penalty away for the third.
County only started to play after 20 minutes and started to create chances with Joseph Russell striking over the keeper to make things 3-1 and County nearly scored again as Robbie Pick struck the post from close range.
Mark Jacomb then fired home giving County positive expectations for the remainder of the game.
In the second half some good work by Liam Moran created an opportunity for Mark Jacomb who scored his second goal with a fine finish.
Plains Farm then scored a goal which seemed to come from nowhere with the ball trickling over the line, and then a bizarre series of events saw a second penalty award which resulted in Kieran Hurton being dismissed from play.
The penalty must been awarded for heavy breathing as both teams were stunned at the decision, and things were made worse with the referee then allowing the saved penalty to be retaken due to encroachment by the Plains Farm players - an unbelievable saga!
The retaken penalty was thumped home as was a penalty awarded to County for a foul on Joseph Russell which skipper Aiden Brown coolly netted into the top left corner.
The game finished 5-4 which was a disappointing result but it was a very spirited response by County to an initial 3 goal deficit.
Man of the Match was awarded to David Loerns who was strong and brave in defense and he distributed well from the back.
Well done everybody.
